EDIT: Since I keep getting comments about how I can’t leave a negative review on a game I’ve played for like +4000 hours and none of those people seem capable of reading 3 paragraphs, let me spell it out. This game is in EARLY ACCESS. I bought this game in 2016. The game has changed in that time. (though admittedly some parts haven’t and that’s a problem) Therefore, while I have spent a lot of time playing this game, the fact that it can change means that my opinion can also change. At the moment, I cannot recommend this game. If you still can’t wrap your head around this fact, well I can’t help you. I can only recommend if you really want a game where you can design your own car and export it to beam with minimal effort. If you want to actually put in the effort, learn how to 3D model in Blender and make your own mod in Beam/ask someone to mod it in for you. If for some unforsaken reason you want to play the campaign, stop. Just don’t. The current campaign is an overcomplicated, uninviting mess of numbers, graphs and sliders that’s about as deep as a puddle and that’s an insult to the puddle. While the awful UI and lack of a tutorial doesn’t help, the issue is more fundamental and honestly requires the devs to actually consider what makes a good tycoon game, because an excel spreadsheet is not a good tycoon game. If you still want to play the campaign, I suggest installing the legacy Kee engine version of the game since the campaign in that is fundamentally the same without the added “improvements” that have mostly only made the game more complicated and difficult to understand. And as a final caution if you still aren’t convinced and still want to buy this game, just note that in the upcoming Turbo revamp that the community has been waiting for since about 2015, the devs decided to remove some features that allow for improved tuning. A lot of members of the community have complained about this and these complaints have fallen on deaf ears. This wasn’t the first time, and it certainly won’t be the last. The real reason why I’ve chosen to make this review now is because I’m pretty fed up with the devs not listening to feedback. As someone who used to be a beta tester and in the developer discord, I know how the devs react to feedback, especially these reviews on Steam. And while I’m no longer in the dev discord, I know people who still are and the devs still treat negative steam reviews with much chagrin. Even complaining that people who left reviews didn’t “try hard enough” to help make a difference and to that I say, people have tried. Every time you want to ask for a technical change like “oh this body should be able to fit a larger engine”, you have to come up with multiple documents to help prove to the devs that you have a point, and even then they might turn back to you and say that there is no problem and ignore you. EDIT: Oh and I’m also reminded of that one time the devs complained about a negative review because the person who left said review had played the game for over 1000 hours or something. I would like to clarify for the devs because I know they’re gonna read this. You can absolutely play 1000+ hours of a game, enjoy parts of it and still come to a conclusion that the game isn’t worth it, especially for Early Access games where the game can change.
