About Hunter X Athena:
A solid and simple metroidvania game with some souls like currency/exp system. A casual playthrough should take roughly under 10 hours to beat. The whole map can be 100% without a guide. The boss fights are difficult and fun that requires learning the patterns. Graphics are fine. Music is okay. Gameplay is the best part once you figure out how ridiculous the skill tree is. This game has a story? If you want to obtain all the achievements, it requires at least 3 playthroughs as each new game loop introduces new items. Another set of achievements requires you to beat certain number of bosses damageless. This achievement doesn’t need to be done in a single playthrough but might need to be on the same file idk. There’s 18 bosses in the game but you can just do the first boss damageless 18 times to get the achievement but I doubt you want to play through the game 18 times. Overall, a good game especially with its focus on combat and exploration of different areas. Decent character designs, my favorites are the priestess and the weapons guy. The boss fights were challenging but the game gives you all the tools to win the encounters. Some negatives are the same swing motion for each type of weapon in the game, the limited teleportation zones to warp from, and the narrative is simple: you are a demon hunter to defeat monsters. Nevertheless the game was a good experience and I would recommend this game to anyone who wants metroidvania types of games.
